GARY JAMES

Gary James circle.png

What would you do after a very successful law career that began with prosecuting mobsters and ended as a very senior corporate executive in a Fortune 200 company running a world-wide Ethics program? Mix in a personal life that includes two ex-wives, a couple long-term ex-girlfriends, a horse, a dog and a "healthy" germ phobia. It all resulted in getting Gary to the stage where he tries to make sense of it all.

Gary holds a mirror to modern society to make sense of the craziness around us and to basically see if he's still breathing.  He explores his fundamental theory by stating "we are all born stupid, but you have to learn to be an idiot".

Gary intentionally steps on the third rails of comedy --- politics, religion, sex and race relations --- trying to keep free speech from being suppressed by a growing culture unable to deal with contrary opinions.

When I first heard Gary I decided he needed either a psychiatrist or a manager...I decided a psychiatrist wouldn't help but he could use a manager, so I took the job.

He will make you laugh, will make you think and will laugh with you as you further realize you are surrounded by idiots.

Gary is one of a kind. Although his comedy takes no prisoners, underneath it all he brings a sensitivity that unites rather than divides.

Chip Ambrogio, comedian

When dad told his boss he'd be retiring as an attorney to become a stand-up comedian, his boss was quick with a reply, "I've seen your legal work ... it seems you've been practicing this for a while.”

We, his family, were even less receptive. Though we started with the injunctions and restraining orders, his insightful and brutally honest material eventually won us over.

We are so proud of him - but still beg him to use a stage name.
